The Airbus A330 is a long-range, low-wing, twin-engine jet airliner, primarily of French-German production. The drive is provided by two General Electric CF6-80E1 engines, or the Pratt and Whitney PW4000 or the RR Trent 700. The prototype flew in 1992, and serial production started in 1994 with production still continuing. By mid-2017, over 1,350 aircraft of this type had been produced, of which 1,293 were in active service. The Airbus A330 was created as a machine to compete on the international markets with the Boeing 767 and 777 aircraft. The aircraft uses many elements from other Airbus constructions: the wing structure is the same as the A340 model, the general design and many solutions, especially the fuselage, were taken from the A300 aircraft avionics, in turn, is very similar to that used on the A320 – incidentally, it is very modern and was based on a fly-by-wire system. Depending on the configuration, the A330 can take up to 405 passengers on board. The maximum range is 13,400 km! The Airbus concern, in addition to the civilian versions, has also created a transport version intended for military use, designated A330MRT, which can also function as an air tanker.
